Marine Police seize cigarettes worth RM114,000 in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: The Sabah Marine Police Strike Unit (UNGERIN) seized 95,000 sticks of smuggled cigarettes before they could be sold on the black market here.
The Taring Landai special operation conducted on Sept 20 about 12.00 midnight, led to a raid on a house in Kg. Silam, believed to be a storage location for contraband cigarettes before an attempt was made to bring them in for marketing.
The swoop was carried out based on planned intelligence from the Sabah Marine Police.
The raid successfully seized 95,000 sticks of various cigarette brands, worth RM114,000. The case is being investigated under the Customs Act 1967.
