Joint Effort of Sabah Engineers Association and St. Benedict Primary School Board of Governors

The Sabah Engineers Association (SEA), together with the Board of Governors of the St. Benedict Primary School, Ranau, made a courtesy call on the JKR Director.  They proposed the rehabilitation and improvements to be made to their school.  In the year 2015 an earthquake struck the areas of Ranau causing severe damage to the school building.  The proposed new building will be equipped with earthquake mitigation measures.  The board members urged that JKR promote the need for earthquake inputs to all future government buildings.  The spillover effect will also encourage the private developers to adopt such measures as the earthquake had not only affected Ranau, but also felt strongly in the state capital of Kota Kinabalu.

The St. Benedict Primary School Board of Governors also revealed of their upset state to commence work.  This is due to the rising cost of construction materials and the lack of funding to see to the completion of the school building.  They hoped JKR would support their effort and see to the materializing of a building that could represent Sabah Engineers’ competencies, especially as an earthquake expert.
