Expedite resolution of public complaints – Joachim

By JAMES LEONG

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, has reminded all agencies under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP), including Local Authorities (PBT), to expedite the resolution of public complaints, in line with their role as frontline providers of government services to grassroots communities.
Speaking at the joint Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Kaamatan celebration organized by KKTP at the lobby of Wisma Innoprise here yesterday, Joachim, who is also the KKTP Minister, emphasized that any issues resolvable at the agency level must be addressed immediately without awaiting further directives, ensuring public welfare remains a priority.
“I urge everyone to deliver the best possible service to our stakeholders. Ensure complaints and issues within our scope, roles, and responsibilities are resolved effectively,” he said during his speech.
Joachim noted that the recent Sabah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) session served as a platform for checks and balances on the performance of ministries, agencies, and PBTs.
He added that the session was also a critical avenue to gather information on current on-the-ground issues, stressing the importance of efficiency and integrity among all officers in executing their duties.
He also expressed gratitude to KKTP staff, agencies under the ministry, and PBTs for their commitment and dedication in delivering services to the public.
“Our work is judged by the people. Every action and decision must reflect high integrity, sincerity, and professionalism as public servants,” he said.
Joachim highlighted that the ministry’s success depends not on individuals but on collective cooperation and efforts.
The event, attended by over 500 KKTP staff, agency representatives, and PBT members, celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Kaamatan in a harmonious and festive atmosphere.
Also present were KKTP Assistant Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih; Chairman and General Manager of the Housing and Urban Development Board (LPPB), Datuk Masiung Banah and Datuk Rosemary Ahping; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Datuk Dr. Jamili Nais; Chairman of Sabah Softwoods Berhad, Datuk Mohd Arsad Bistari; Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Dr. Roland Chia; Deputy Permanent Secretary (I) of KKTP, Stanley Chong; and Deputy Permanent Secretary (II) and event organizing chairperson Faridah Giau.
