Motorcyclist killed in Sandakan road accident

SANDAKAN: A foreigner was killed in a road accident involving his motorcycle and two vehicles at Mile 15 Jalan Labuk on Saturday evening.
OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the 25-year-old man succumbed to his injuries while undergoing emergency treatment at the Duchess of Kent Hospital following the crash which happened at about 5.55 pm.
Preliminary police investigations revealed a sedan, traveling from Mile 16 toward the Mile 14 roundabout, suddenly lost control, jumped the road divider, and overturned, Ahsmon said.
The vehicle then collided with the victim’s motorcycle in the opposite lane, causing him to skid and crash into a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) in the left lane, he added.
“Police are probing the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to reckless or dangerous driving causing death,” Ahsmon said.
Witnesses or individuals with information on the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation. – James Leong
