LAHAD DATU: Firemen from the Fire and Rescue Station here received an emergency call from the Tungku Police Station at 7.02 am on Monday requesting assistance in locating a missing person believed to be lost in the forest approximately 40 kilometres from the fire station.
According to a police report filed by the victim’s cousin, the missing individual, Fendery Ani, aged 37, male, entered the Tamaco forest in Tungkut on May 8 at 4.00 pm along with three companions to search for forest produce. As of yesterday, none of the four individuals have returned home.
Attempts to contact the victim via mobile phone have been unsuccessful.
On May 11 at 2.00 pm, the cousin contacted the victim’s supervisor, to inform that the victim was supposed to work on May 11. The victim remains uncontactable as of 3.00 pm on Monday.
A team from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station was despatched to the location to gather further details and initiate a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation. – James Leong
