SANDAKAN: Another five foreigners without valid identification papers were detained during a joint operation codenamed “Ops Poket” conducted by district police at the central market in town on Wednesday.
The operation was held from 4pm to 6pm with the collaboration of the Immigration Department, Sandakan Municipal Council, and National Registration Department, from 4pm to 6pm, acting OCPD Supt K Ramasamy said in a statement.
Ramasamy confirmed that five foreigners were arrested under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for offences including without identification documents and overstaying in Malaysia.
All detainees were brought to the District Police Headquarters and the Immigration Department for further action, he added.
Ramasamy stated that similar integrated operations will continue to be conducted to ensure public safety and security. – James Leong
