Police arrest suspect in Tawau supermarket knife fight

TAWAU: Police arrested a 37-year-old undocumented foreigner following a violent altercation involving a sharp weapon in front of a supermarket at Jalan Pasar here on Sunday.
The incident occurred at about 3.43 pm, after authorities received an emergency call via MERS 999 reporting the brawl.
By 5.00pm, a team from the district Criminal Investigation Division and MPV personnel detained the suspect and confiscated the weapon allegedly used in the fight. Preliminary investigations revealed the suspect lacked valid identification documents, violating Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The case is also being probed under Section 326 of the Penal Code (voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a weapon).
The suspect is currently detained under Section 51(5)(b) of the Immigration Act for further investigation, OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin said.
