Hannah to attend 2025 JOM! Malaysia-China Friendship Run

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, has confirmed her attendance at the upcoming 2025 JOM! Malaysia-China Friendship Run, adding prominence and significance to this year’s event.
The event is organized by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association Sabah. Its president, Dr. Oh Ei Sun, along with Executive Vice President and Secretary-General Steven Liaw, and Organizing Chairperson Michael Lim, paid a courtesy visit to Hannah, accompanied by Kaven Lee, the political secretary to Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities cum MP for Kota Kinabalu, Dato’ Chan Foong Hin.
Dr. Oh expressed that Minister Yeoh’s confirmation brings great encouragement and validation to the event. “The Minister’s involvement elevates the event’s official stature and public visibility, while showcasing the government’s strong commitment to enhancing Malaysia-China people-to-people ties, as well as promoting public health and the spirit of sports. This not only lends the event more authority and representation but also strengthens the deep bond between the peoples of both nations, taking the 2025 edition to new heights in meaning and influence.”
He also extended gratitude to Dato’ Chan Foong Hin and Dato’ Phoong Jin Zhe (Sabah Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship and Assemblyman for Luyang) for their efforts in facilitating the invitation.
The event will take place on July 27, 2025, at 6am at the starting point Padang Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu covering a 7KM round trip, turning back at the traffic circle outside Likas Bay City Mosque.
The event is strongly supported by leading sportswear brand Skechers, which has long promoted active living among Sabahans. This year’s sponsorship includes lucky draw gifts worth RM60,000; race kit includes T-shirt, eco bag, 30% Skechers discount voucher, bib number, and medal.
The top lucky draw prize is RM5,508 worth of running shoes (one pair worth RM459 every month for 12 months), with 349 cash prizes totalling RM54,500.
First prize is RM2,000 (1 winner), 2nd prize RM1,000 (3 winners) and 3rd prize RM500 (5 winners). Consolation prizes RM300 (20), RM200 (50), RM150 (80), RM100 (190).
