SANDAKAN: The Sandakan District Police Headquarters ushered in a new era on Monday as Assistant Commissioner (ACP) George Abdul Rakman officially took command as District Police Chief in a ceremony steeped in tradition and significance.
Presiding over the proceedings, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun oversaw the transition that saw Superintendent Ramasamay Kuppan conclude his tenure as Acting OCPD. This leadership change follows the recent promotion of former chief SAC Ahsmon Bajah to head the Contingent Management Department at Sabah Police Headquarters.
The event marked not only a change in operational leadership but also witnessed the transition of the Police Family Association (PERKEP) chairpersonship. In a symbolic moment, Arnianah Datuk Hj Andi Yakin assumed leadership from outgoing chairperson Asonah Dukim, highlighting the force’s dual focus on professional excellence and community welfare.
George’s appointment marked his second posting to Sandakan District Police Headquarters after first serving in 2010. His return brings both institutional knowledge and fresh perspective to the district’s law enforcement challenges.
Jauteh emphasized the continuity of service in his address: “Leadership may change, but our commitment to protecting Sandakan’s diverse communities remains constant.”
The ceremony drew an impressive gathering of senior officers including Kinabatangan OCPD Superintendent Ravi Duraisamy.
