Fatal crash in Lahad Datu claims one life

LAHAD DATU: A 19-year-old woman died after the car she was in crashed near the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters early on Friday.
The Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station received a distress call at 4.42 am and firemen arrived at the scene within three minutes.
The accident involved a Perodua Bezza that was believed to have lost control and veered off the road.
Firemen used specialized equipment to extricate the female passenger, who was trapped. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Two male victims, aged 28 and 31, sustained injuries. The 31-year-old driver suffered a mouth injury. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The operation involved personnel from the fire and rescue station, district police, and Health Ministry. The body of the deceased has been handed over to police for further action.
Meanwhile, in Tawau, a man suffered burns in a fire that damaged two houses near Mile 4 Jalan Apas, about 8KM from town early Thursday.
The victim, Bacho Ambosappe, 57, sustained injuries to his legs and hands. He received emergency treatment at the scene from the EMRS team before being sent to Tawau Hospital for further medical attention.
Two houses were severely damaged, with one completely destroyed and the other 60% damaged. According to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Operations Centre, the Tawau station was notified at 6.50 am.
Firefighters succeeded in containing the blaze with support from the police, Civil Defence Force and Sabah Electricity. The operation concluded at 8.35 am.
Meanwhile, a two-storey family home located behind a motorcycle shop off Batu 9, Jalan Labuk in Sandakan was extensively damaged in a fire on Wednesday.
The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station received the distress call at 1.26 am and arrived at the location on Jalan Chung Hwa within approximately 15 minutes.
Acting Station Chief PBK I Syamzari Ghani reported that firefighters battled the blaze which had already consumed one vehicle entirely and destroyed 40% of the house. Fortunately, all six occupants managed to escape unharmed.
The blaze was brought under control by 3.00 am and firefighting operation concluded at 3.56 am after it was completely extinguished.
The response effort involved 11 firefighters utilizing a fire engine, the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) unit, and a water tanker, with additional support provided by the district police. – James Leong
