Sabah Marine Police arrest three in subsidised fuel bust in east coast

SANDAKAN: The State Marine Police arrested three men in separate operations in Sandakan and Semporna for subsidised fuel manipulation.
Sabah Marine Police Commander ACP Nazri Ibrahim said the swoops were carried out simultaneously in the two districts from 8.00 pm on Sept 29.
Two local men were arrested, a tanker lorry, a four wheel-drive vehicle, two skid tanks confiscated by marine policemen at Jalan Cecily, Sandakan, Nazri said.
In Semporna, a foreigner was nabbed in waters between Pulau Omadal and Tanjung Pantau-Pantau for attempting to smuggle petrol to a neighbouring country, he added.
Nazri said 5,400 litres of diesel and 51 jerrycans of petrol estimated worth RM 482,672.25 were seized in the two raids.
“The cases are being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961,” Nazri said. – James Leong
