SANDAKAN: The water leakage issue affecting Bandar Prima has been successfully identified, and repair works are now in progress, with completion expected within a week.
Sandakan Municipal Councillor Robert Chong Thien Ming, who led a joint site inspection with fellow Councillor Tang Szu Ching, representatives of Sabah Water Department, Telekom Malaysia and Sabah Electricity, confirmed that the root cause of the leak was pinpointed near the junction of the entrance to Taman Tinosan.
“Upon confirming the leak’s location, we coordinated with the relevant utility providers to implement the most efficient solution,” said Chong who is also LDP vice president.
“This approach allows us to fix the problem without the significant delay of relocating other underground utilities. A new bypass pipeline is now being installed to resolve the issue promptly,” he added.
Chong confirmed that the new piping materials are already on site and that installation is currently in progress. He is closely monitoring the project and expressed his appreciation for the public’s patience and understanding during the repair works. – James Leong
