BEAUFORT: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is committed to being a fair and just government, a principle it intends to uphold if granted a fresh mandate by the people on November 29, said Chief Minister and GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said GRS has a clear agenda to realise this, as outlined in its election manifesto featuring four key pillars: Sabah First, Sabah Forward, Sabah Prosper, and Sabah United.
“GRS has proven its capability to govern the State effectively over the past five years. We have succeeded in advancing Sabah through various initiatives.
“We have also helped our people throughout Sabah, regardless of race or religion. GRS is genuinely committed to the development of Sabah.
“We seek a fresh mandate to continue our plans,” said Hajiji during a meet-the-people session at the Dataran Begandang.
Present were GRS candidates for Klias Datuk Isnin Aliasnih, Lumadan Datuk Ruslan Muharam, Sipitang MP Datuk Matbali Musa, and GRS Wanita Chief Datuk Azizah Dun.
Hajiji noted that the GRS-led State Government has achieved significant success, particularly in rebuilding Sabah’s economy following the Covid-19 pandemic through the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) initiative.
He said, for instance, the residents of Sipitang and surrounding areas, such as Lumadan and Klias, stand to benefit from the economic spillover of the Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) development.
“Agreements have been signed with numerous companies to establish their operations, and SOGIP is now fully occupied,” he added.
Hajiji reiterated that while the GRS-led State Government focuses on mega projects for Sabah’s development, it has not neglected the welfare of the people.
“When we return to government on November 29, we will consider offering assistance to all eligible seniors aged 60 and above. This is what we aspire to do; we want to help the people,” he said.
He said that over the past five years, the number of welfare recipients has increased from 30,000 to 70,000, with individuals receiving aid of up to RM300 a month.
Hajiji added that starting this year, approximately 100,000 heads of households listed under the e-Kasih programme are receiving RM300 monthly.
He said GRS will continue these initiatives while introducing new ones for the welfare of the people and the progress of Sabah once it returns to government.
He also encouraged the GRS election machinery to work hard to ensure victory for their respective candidates.
