KIULU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said political stability in Sabah will be ensured when Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) becomes the dominant party to lead the government.
He said the government can bring more development and implement its plans through political stability and strong cooperation with the Federal Government.
Hajiji, who is also the GRS chairman, added that it is crucial for the people to support GRS, which he said will take care of the state.
“We need the people’s support and GRS must be returned as the government in this election to ensure political stability in Sabah,” he said at a meet-the-people session at Dewan Terbuka Kiulu.
Hajiji, who is defending the Sulaman seat, rejected claims by the opposition that the Federal Government is taking everything from Sabah.
“As a nation, we must have strong cooperation with the Federal Government too. But it does not mean we are giving in to them.
“During our meetings, I have always been steadfast and firm in maintaining our stand in demanding Sabah’s rights,” he said.
He added that Sabah would suffer losses if GRS is unable to continue its Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development plan.
On claims that the GRS-led government has failed, Hajiji said the opposite is true.
“The opposition only managed to become the State Government for just over two years. This means they are the ones who have failed,” he said.
He said the opposition has run out of ideas, is full of rhetoric, and raises issues without substance.
Hajiji also expressed confidence that GRS Kiulu candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai would retain the seat, citing his service to the constituents.
“I urge the people to make the right choice and ensure all the successes we have achieved can be continued in the next five years,” he said.
