Man arrested for assaulting father in Tawau

TAWAU: The cops here arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly assaulting his father following a violent outburst at their home in Kampung Sungai Imam early Monday.
According to OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin, the incident initially occurred last Saturday about 11.30 am. The 69-year-old victim was at home when his son suddenly turned aggressive, attacking him by punching and kicking him without provocation. The assault resulted in injuries to the victim’s face and body.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team from the Bombalai Police Station located and arrested the suspect near his home around 1.00 am on Monday.
“The unemployed suspect has been detained, and the case is being investigated under Section 323/18A of the Penal Code,” ACP Jasmin stated.
He also advised the public to always respect their parents, manage their emotions, and seek mature solutions to problems to prevent irreversible consequences.
Jasmin emphasised that the police have a zero-tolerance policy towards all acts of violence, including those within families, and urged the community to come forward with any information that could help prevent such incidents. – James Leong
