Vehicle skids into sewer hole, two slightly injured

SANDAKAN: A four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle skidded and fell into a sewer hole at Jalan Buli Sim Sim here on Monday afternoon.
The accident which left its driver, aged 24, and a passenger with minor injuries, was reported to have occurred at around 4.30 pm.
According to OCPD ACP George Abd Rakman, the driver of the 4WD is believed to have lost control of the vehicle upon approaching the location. The vehicle then struck concrete and plastic barriers on the roadside before plunging into the sewer hole.
The victims, a 24-year-old local male driver and his passenger, sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Duchess of Kent Hospital, he added.
George stated that the case is being investigated under Rule 10, LN 166/59 of the Road Traffic Rules.
The district police chief advised the public to always exercise caution and comply with all road regulations to prevent undesirable incidents. – James Leong
