KOTA KINABALU: The public is invited to attend and enliven the Upko Christmas Open House and New Year 2026 celebrations in Kadamaian, Tuaran and Penampang on 3, 4 and 5 January.
Deputy Chief Minister III and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister (MINDET), Datuk Ewon Benedick will officiate the programme.
For Kadamaian, the celebration will take place on 5 January at the Kadamaian Square Hall, Taginambur, Kota Belud.
Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian Assemblyman said the programme aims to strengthen ties between the community and their leaders, in addition to disseminating information related to government services.
He added that the public would also have the opportunity to obtain further information on MINDET services and its agencies.
“Agencies, departments and Sabah government-linked companies under the MINDET portfolio will be holding service exhibitions in conjunction with this event to introduce their roles and initiatives to the people of Kadamaian,” he said.
The celebration will be enlivened by performances from invited artistes Rey Kimara, Felix Agus, S. Welly, Melinda Rise The Star, as well as Baby Camellia, runner-up of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Upko State-level and champion of KDCA Kota Belud.
Choir performances will also be presented by the SIB Women’s Association of the Taginambur Area, SDA Rangalau, St Edmund Kota Belud and SIB Piasau.
Ewon who is also Upko President also invited the public to attend the celebration, to be hosted by Upko Tuaran Division under the leadership of Tuaran Member of Parliament and Tamparuli Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.
The event will be held on 4 January, at Dewan Seri Sulaman, Tuaran, starting at 1pm.
In addition, Ewon who is also Penampang MP and Moyog Assemblyman Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin also invited the public to attend the celebration on 3 January, at Dewan Tamu Desa, Kampung Ramayah, Penampang, starting at 10am.
The public from all walks of life are invited to attend all three events to foster the spirit of unity, family togetherness and social harmony in Sabah. – Wu Vuide
