Group of Sung Siew 1978 students gather for Chinese New Year

SANDAKAN: A group of the Sung Siew Secondary School 1978 Form 5 students recently organised a warm and heartfelt reunion dinner during the Chinese New Year festive season with some classmates living out of town returned home for the holidays. It was a successful event with laughter and cheerful conversations in which they revisited their cherished school day memories.
During the dinner, classmates reminisced about their school days at Sung Siew Secondary School 48 years ago. From amusing classroom moments and extracurricular activities to the earnest guidance of their teachers, vivid memories seemed to come alive once more. They also shared updates about their lives and some have achieved success in their careers, while some are enjoying time with their grandchildren and others remain active in society and the workforce each shining in their own stage of life.
The reunion has not only rekindled precious friendships but also strengthened their bonds. Many expressed that although time has passed, their friendship remains as strong as ever. They hope to hold similar gatherings regularly in the future to keep their memories alive and their connections enduring.
In the joyful atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, this reunion carried special meaning. It was more than just a simple dinner. It was a testament to nearly half a century of enduring friendship. The evening concluded with New Year wishes exchanged, as everyone wished one another good health, family happiness & looked forward to meeting again at the next reunion.
After years apart, they greeted one another warmly and the gathering was filled with a strong sense of friendship and camaraderie.
