Marine police seize 2,100 litres of subsidised diesel in raid

SANDAKAN: The State Marine Police continued to intensify efforts to crack down on the misappropriation of subsidised fuel, with a raid conducted in Sandakan on Monday.
Acting on intelligence at about 2.45 pm, a marine police team raided a diesel storage premises in Kampung Batu 11, Jalan Seguntor.
An inspection revealed that the premises was being used to transfer subsidised diesel from a lorry into a skid tank, believed to be for the purpose of fuel misappropriation.
During the operation, two local men were detained to assist with investigations. The marine police also seized a 10-ton lorry and several pieces of equipment used in the fuel transfer process.
They also confiscated approximately 2,100 litres of subsidised diesel, estimated to be worth RM12,537 based on current market prices.
The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.
The State Marine Police have pledged to remain fully committed to eradicating misappropriation and smuggling of subsidised goods, in order to safeguard national security and economic well-being. – James Leong
