JKKKs play crucial role in Kadamaian development

KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick said the success of the Kadamaian Development Master Plan 2020-2035 depends significantly on the role played by Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) throughout the area.
Ewon, who is also Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, expressed confidence that the development plan currently being implemented could be successfully realised through the cooperation of all parties.
“I am very confident that with this cooperation, we will witness better development in Kadamaian by 2030.
“The same applies to security matters. I hope they will ensure that village security is properly managed. That is why today the Royal Malaysia Police and the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia also delivered briefings on safety-related matters,” he said.
He said this after presenting appointment letters to 73 JKKK chairpersons from across the Kadamaian constituency at the Kadamaian Assemblyman’s Office compound here.
Ewon hoped all newly-appointed JKKK chairpersons would become part of the government machinery in developing their respective villages and Kadamaian as a whole.
He also expressed appreciation to the KOSMA Foundation for carrying out a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme by contributing fire extinguishers to 97 villages within the Kadamaian constituency.
In a separate event, an elderly resident of Kampung Tobur, Aman Dorinsim, who lives alone and suffers from visual impairment, now has a more comfortable home through a CSR contribution from Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) Sdn Bhd.
Ewon said the CSR programme reflected the corporate sector’s commitment to helping those in need.
During a visit to Aman’s home on Jan 31, accompanied by officers from the Kadamaian Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM), Ewon found the existing house to be in a dilapidated condition.
“Following that visit, I requested KKIP to assist through its CSR programme. I hope this new house will provide greater comfort for Aman Dorinsim,” he said after visiting and inspecting the newly-completed house.
In April, Ewon presented a RM20,000 CSR contribution from KKIP for the construction of a new house for Aman, who lives alone.
Meanwhile, Jose Dorinsim, the recipient’s son, expressed gratitude to Ewon for helping his father secure funding to build a new house that is more comfortable and disability-friendly. – Wu Vuide
