SAPP Sandakan Zone to hold AGM, party president to address State’s political future

SANDAKAN: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Sandakan Zone is set to convene a pivotal joint annual general meeting (AGM) for its Tanjong Papat and Elopura Constituency Liaison Committees this July 19.
The meeting is scheduled to commence at 11.00 am at the party’s premises in Bandar Letat Jaya, Jalan Lintas Utara.
The AGM is expected to be a significant event, with SAPP Party President, Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee, attending as the guest of honour. The party leader is slated to deliver a key address on the current geopolitical situation in Sabah, with a primary focus on charting the party’s strategic direction in the context of the state’s political future.
Adding to the importance of the gathering, six Supreme Council members are also confirmed to attend, highlighting the central role this zone plays within the party’s structure.
This AGM is being described as a crucial platform for the party to reflect on its performance in the last State Election and forge a new path forward.
“From here, SAPP will adopt new ideas and new strategies to reenergise our Party,” SAPP Vice President Thomas Lau Chi Keong said in a statement.
The party reiterated its foundational objectives, which are centred on upholding Sabahan rights, creating a liveable environment, and fostering a dynamic economy that prioritises the well-being of the people.
“SAPP is one of the platforms that provide a consistent voice for Sabahans. We never waiver from our goals. We won, we lost, but never give up, ” the statement read, emphasizing the party’s resilience.
In a stirring message, Lau reflected on the party’s enduring spirit, stating the party’s commitment to its principles.
“We are 32 years old, have survived the jungle environment. We don’t falter, just ponder, stand up and fight on for our principles, beliefs and causes for Sabah. We stay the cause. We didn’t disappear because we have a strong, hardy leadership structure built on resilience, determination and integrity. We have values,” Lau said. – James Leong
