RM671m allocated to upgrade rural roads in Kadamaian – Ewon

KUALA LUMPUR: Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick (pic) raised the status of proposed upgrades to several rural roads in Kadamaian.
Among the roads highlighted were the Gaur–Mangkulat–Bukid–Pinolobuh Road, Dundau–Piasau Road, Lasau–Kebidahan Road and other rural roads in Kota Belud district.
According to a written reply from the Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) at the Dewan Rakyat sitting, one new project and eight continuation projects under the Rural Road Programme (JALB) had been approved in Kota Belud as of 2026.
The projects involved a total allocation of RM671.55 million.
The ministry said one of the nine approved projects had been fully completed, five were under construction, while three others were at the pre-construction stage.
For the Mangkulat–Pinolobuh–Bukid Road Construction Project in Kota Belud, the ministry said the new project was approved in 2026 with a cost of RM99.9 million.
It said the project involved the construction of a 9km road based on JKR R2 standards, as well as the construction of a bridge.
Currently, the project is at the concept design preparation stage and is scheduled to undergo the Value Assessment (VA) Lab from July 20 to 24, 2026,
Meanwhile, KKDW said the Piasau–Dundau–Siasai Road Upgrading Project in Kota Belud was approved in 2024 at a cost of RM46 million.
The project scope involves upgrading a 5km road according to JKR R2 standards, while its current status is at the detailed design preparation stage before the procurement process begins.
