Motorcyclist killed in accident with four-wheel-drive vehicle

SEMPORNA: A motorcyclist died after being involved in an accident with a four-wheel drive vehicle in Kampung Mentelitip Pegagau, Jalan Semporna-Tawau, here, yesterday.
In the 7.15 am incident, the victim, 68-year-old Kassim Anuar, was confirmed dead at the scene due to serious injuries.
Semporna Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Zainal Sinsian said his department received an emergency call at 7.22 am before a team of eight members was dispatched to the location.
He said the Fire Brigade arrived at 7.45am and found an accident involving a motorcycle and a Toyota Hilux with a total of three victims involved.
“A victim was confirmed dead by officials from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) before the body was handed over to the police for further action.
“The other two victims were individuals who were riding in the Toyota Hilux, aged 36 and 54 respectively.
“The 36-year-old victim suffered minor injuries and was given initial treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team before being sent to hospital, while the other person did not suffer any injuries,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Zainal said the operation ended at 8.16am after the Fire Brigade ensured the situation at the location was safe and there was no other danger. – Fardy Bungga
