Jendela 2 to target 2,000 remote sites in Sabah, Sarawak

KOTA KINABALU: About 2,000 remote locations in Sabah and Sarawak will be prioritised under the second phase of the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela 2), Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said.
Fahmi disclosed the figure during a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu yesterday.
Jendela 2 will cover 3,000 locations nationwide to expand digital infrastructure in areas still lacking quality internet due to geography and sparse population.
Hajiji was briefed on the implementation plan, which is expected to benefit rural residents in Sabah.
Present were MCMC chairman Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, MCMC commission member Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, State Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister James Ratib, Nominated Assemblyman Mohamed Razali Mohd Razi, the ministry’s permanent secretary Hassan Mahali and Sabah Net chairman Azman Ruslan. – Wu Vuide
