SANDAKAN: Two motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a drunk driving operation conducted early Sunday by the district’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.
According to OCPD ACP George Abd Rakman, the operation involved one officer and 11 personnel and was carried out in the vicinity of Mile 4, Jalan Utara.
The two individuals were detained under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for operating vehicles with blood alcohol concentrations exceeding the legal limit. If convicted, they face up to two years in prison, a fine of not less than RM10,000 and not more than RM30,000, and a two-year disqualification from holding a driving license.
During the operation, the division also issued 14 summonses for various traffic offences. Checks were conducted on all road users to ensure full compliance with traffic laws and to detect any other violations.
