KOTA KINABALU: The upcoming implementation of SST and sales tax on imported construction materials is expected to drive up property prices, said the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda).
“For those planning to buy, now is truly the right time. Secure your property before the cost environment shifts further,” said President Datuk Johnny Wong Chen Yee.
“PropEX is not just an exhibition. It is a meeting ground for developers, bankers, lawyers, suppliers, government agencies, and most importantly, the public. It is where ideas are exchanged and deals are made,” he said.
He said this ahead of PropEX 2025, which will be held from August 22 to 24 at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
The exhibition themed “My Perfect Home” will run daily from 10am to 9pm, featuring over 60 booths offering the latest in property, home solutions and related services.
The three-day event is expected to draw thousands of visitors.
“We are bringing everything together under one roof, developers, home interiors, financial services and even legal advice, making PropEX a true one-stop destination for homebuyers, investors and property professionals,” said Wong.
Organising Chairman Jonathan Wong added that the 2025 edition will also focus heavily on enhancing the visitor experience.
“Our booth layout this year is inspired by the classic Monopoly board game. It is a playful and interactive design,” he said.
For the first time, PropEX is collaborating with the MITM Travel Fair, offering attractive property deals and exciting travel packages in one seamless experience.
Other key highlights include daily lucky draws for registered visitors and a chance to win the grand prize, a 75-inch Sony Smart TV, for buyers who book properties during the event.
The Booth Design Awards (Best Model House, Most Attractive Ad, Most Creative Booth) will be announced at the closing ceremony.
Another significant feature this year is the Financial Network Gathering.
