Support WFH policy, urges Salleh

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno treasurer Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said the State Government’s move to consider implementing a work-from-home (WFH) policy, along with reviewing selected projects, is timely and appropriate.
“The move reflects prudent fiscal management. Reviewing projects is not about stopping development, but ensuring only high-impact and necessary projects proceed,” he said.
He was referring to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun’s statement that the government is considering extending the WFH policy—currently applicable only to federal staff—amid the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has led to a fuel price hike.
“WFH can help reduce operational costs while improving efficiency, provided there is proper monitoring and accountability.
“This approach shows pragmatic leadership. In uncertain economic conditions, policy adjustments are necessary to maintain financial stability,” said Salleh.
He said the move should be welcomed as it underscores fiscal discipline, clear priorities and a focus on delivering value to the people. – Wu Vuide
