SEMPORNA: District Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah officiated the annual general meeting (AGM) of the Police Family Association (PERKEP) for the 2026/2027 session at the Semporna PERKEP House on Jan 30.
He was accompanied by deputy OCPD DSP Jaafar Hakim, along with heads of various departments.
Upon arrival, Tan was welcomed by Semporna PERKEP chairperson Sofia S. Sawayan and committee members.
In his opening address, Tan emphasised that PERKEP is a vital platform for strengthening the spirit of kinship, fostering fellowship, and enhancing cooperation among members. He also highlighted the association’s role in driving collective success through steadfast support and sustained commitment.
Following the opening ceremony, Tan presented Certificates of Appreciation to the outgoing 2025/2026 PERKEP Committee members. The event also featured a cake-cutting ceremony.
The meeting proceeded with the election of the new 2026/2027 committee, chaired by Sofia S. Sawayan, who called for full cooperation from all members in organizing productive and family-oriented PERKEP activities. – James Leong
