TAMBUNAN: The State Government has distributed RM57,250 to assist teachers affected by a fire at the Pekan Tambunan State Religious School (SAN).
The special assistance was channelled through the Internal Affairs and Research Office (PHEDN&P) of the Chief Minister’s Department.
Deputy Secretary of PHEDN&P, Mohd Rizan Abran, handed over the contribution at the Tambunan District Office.
Rizan said the assistance would help ease the burden of affected teachers who lost teaching equipment and personal belongings in the October 12 fire last year.
He said the incident also destroyed part of the school’s facilities.
“The State Government is concerned about the difficulties faced by the victims and hopes this assistance will help them replace basic necessities and teaching equipment,” he said.
The recipients included the school’s headmaster, Ahmad Subri Janing, who lost a laptop and teaching materials, as well as several other teachers who lost their teaching and learning (PdP) materials. – Wu Vuide
