TAWAU: A man has been arrested in Tawau for allegedly assaulting his wife following a misunderstanding, while in a separate operation, authorities in Lahad Datu raided 16 premises as part of an integrated anti-vape crackdown.
A woman in her 40s became a victim of domestic violence after being struck in the face by her husband at their home in Tanjung Batu Darat, Tawau. The victim sustained injuries and pain from the attack before filing a police report.
According to OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin, acting on the report, a team from the District Criminal Investigation Division arrested the suspect on Jalan Aman on April 21.
“The suspect, a 25-year-old man holding a temporary resident identity card, works as a lorry assistant. He was brought to the police station for further action,” said Jasmin.
“The case is being investigated under Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 and Section 323 of the Penal Code,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Lahad Datu, 16 premises around the district were inspected during an integrated vape operation held over five days from April 13 to 17.
The operation, conducted by the District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID), also involved the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) and the Lahad Datu District Council (MDLD).
The operation focused on premises suspected of selling vape products illegally, including selling to minors and selling e-liquids containing prohibited substances.
During inspections, several vape devices and flavoured e-liquids were seized for further investigation.
The Ministry of Health and the District Council also issued compounds to traders who failed to comply with regulations. Strict warnings were given for offences such as failing to display a “No Sale to Under-18s” sign, operating without a valid business licence, and maintaining unclean premises.
Members of the public with information on illegal vape sales are urged to contact the Lahad Datu NCID at 089-881255, 016-8881066, or 016-8730166. – James Leong
