SANDAKAN: Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong has conducted a site visit following the sixth complaint from traders and residents in the Bandar Kim Fung area, which has been grappling with persistent infrastructure issues since last year.
The complaint focuses on problems related to the sewage system and water supply. According to feedback from those affected, the issue stems from overflowing septic tank sewage pipes, which have contaminated roadways and compromised public cleanliness and comfort.
At the same time, a leak has been identified in an underground water distribution pipe, leading to low and unstable water pressure. This has subsequently affected the daily water usage of residents in the area.
In response, the Sabah Water Department and the Sabah Sewerage Services Department (JPPS) have been notified and are supposed to carry out immediate repair and maintenance work to address the long-standing problem.
The Elopura Assemblyman emphasised that a coordinated effort between relevant agencies is crucial to ensure that an effective long-term solution can be implemented.
He stressed that this issue cannot be taken lightly as it involves public health and the well-being of residents. He will continue to monitor the progress of repair works and urge immediate action from the authorities to ensure the problem is fully resolved as soon as possible.
Affected folks are also advised to continue channelling feedback and complaints if the problems persist, so that follow-up action can be taken without delay. – James Leong
