Two men arrested, police seize 100.20g of suspected methamphetamine

SEMPORNA: Police arrested two local men and seized 100.20 grams of suspected methamphetamine, estimated to be worth RM10,000, during an operation along Jalan Causeway, Bandar Baru Seafront, on April 20.
The arrests were made by a team from the District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) following surveillance in the area. According to OCPD Superintendent Tan Hiap Wah, the operation led to the inspection of a vehicle occupied by two suspicious local men.
He stated that both suspects attempted to flee as soon as they were approached, but police acted swiftly and managed to apprehend them at the scene.
“A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed two large transparent plastic packets containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 100.20 grams. The drugs were found hidden inside a disposable diaper stored within a paper bag,” he said.
Both suspects were taken to the District NCID Office for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Tan also advised the public to stay away from drug abuse, emphasizing that it not only destroys an individual’s future but also negatively impacts their family and community. He urged the public to continue providing information to the police to assist in efforts to combat drug-related activities in the district. – James Leong
