SANDAKAN: The State Marine Police together with the Seguntor Police Station Task Force, dismantled an illegal subsidised diesel transfer operation in a raid conducted along Jalan Weng Sing, Sungai Manila, on May 17.
The operation, carried out around 1.20 pm, led to the arrest of two men – one local and one Indonesian – who were believed to be engaged in the illegal transfer of subsidised diesel.
Further checks resulted in the seizure of a lorry and several pieces of equipment used in the operation, including a skid tank and fuel transfer apparatus. Both suspects were detained to assist with further investigations, while all seized items have been confiscated for legal action.
A total of 14,200 litres of diesel were seized, with an estimated black-market value of approximately RM69,154. The total value of the confiscated items, including the vehicle, skid tank, transfer equipment, and diesel, is estimated at around RM194,354.
The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
The State Marine Police will continue to intensify monitoring and enforcement operations to combat the misappropriation of controlled goods, which impacts the nation’s economy and security. – James Leong
