SANDAKAN: The Jelajah Iftar 2025 programme, sponsored by Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) in collaboration with UPPM Sabah, has reached its 13th location in the 20th Parliamentary area covering Sandakan, Libaran, and Batu Sapi.
Senator Annabell Perian, who attended as the guest of honour, praised the initiative by KTC and UPPM Sabah for organizing this programme. She highlighted the participation of leaders and citizens from various walks of life, as well as the contributions made to assist the disabled, asnaf (those eligible for zakat), and those in need, thereby alleviating the burden on affected families.
KTC Executive Director Datuk Dexter Lau expressed his joy at witnessing the lively atmosphere of the iftar event in Sandakan, which saw the attendance of thousands. As a private and corporate entity, he felt proud to contribute to those in need and ensure that the less fortunate are not marginalized.
He added that throughout this journey, in addition to programs like Shopping Raya and iftar gatherings across 25 locations in Sabah, various additional activities were held, including visits and donations to orphanages and other welfare organizations.
Dexter also expressed hope that more parties would come forward to collaborate in providing contributions and benefits to a greater number of those in need.
The Iftar event held at the Sandakan District Mosque was attended by 1,500 people, including 100 individuals from the asnaf group, single mothers, the disabled, and the elderly, who received contributions from Qhazanah Sabah Berhad.
