SANDAKAN: Tanjong Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon and his aides visited the Muslim Cemetery in Sim-Sim to assess the current situation following the recent landslide caused by continuous heavy rain.
The incident resulted in soil erosion, which poses a potential threat to the safety of the surrounding area.
As an immediate measure to prevent further deterioration, Poon donated canvas to cover the affected area and reduce the risk of ongoing erosion. He also requested the relevant authorities to examine long-term safety measures to address this issue.
At the same time, Poon disclosed that the construction of the new Sim-Sim Muslim Cemetery is in its final planning stages. He hoped construction work could commence as soon as possible to meet the needs of the local community.
Poon will continue to monitor the situation and ensure all necessary efforts are taken to safeguard the safety and well-being of the residents. He also urged all parties to remain cooperative and take precautionary measures to prevent any unwanted incidents. – James Leong
