SANDAKAN: A two-meter-long saltwater crocodile was captured after being spotted in a large drain at Kampung Forest on Wednesday.
Alert villagers discovered the 20kg reptile in the drain and put it in a sack before alerting the APM at 1.37 pm through the MERS 999 emergency line.
The APM team employed standard wildlife handling protocols, securing the crocodile’s jaws and covering its eyes to reduce stress during transport.
The operation concluded at 2.05pm and the crocodile would be handed to the Wildlife Department for relocation.
Members of the public have been advised to prioritise their safety and avoid handling dangerous wildlife themselves. Immediately contact authorities at MERS999 or the Wildlife Department for assistance. – James Leong
