LAHAD DATU: Seven individuals were injured, two seriously, in two separate road accidents in Kinabatangan and Lahad Datu on Saturday.
The first incident occurred near Kampung Jaya Baru, Bukit Garam, approximately 7 km from Kinabatangan town involving a double-cabin four-wheel drive (4WD) and a sedan car.
Two occupants of the 4WD, aged 42 and 52, escaped unharmed.
Six people in the sedan, aged 5 to 45, sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital via two ambulances.
Two victims were in serious condition and had to be extricated from the wreckage by Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue personnel.
The Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station was alerted at 2.44 pm.
In a separate incident near Taman CL, Jalan Asam in Lahad Datu, a 34-year-old woman was injured after the car she was driving plunged into a 5-meter-deep roadside drain.
Bystanders pulled her out before firefighters arrived.
The Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station received the emergency call at 11:35 p.m.
The Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) transported her to the hospital for treatment.
