A-PLUS Leadership Camp builds youth confidence and resilience

SANDAKAN: Member of Parliament for Libaran, Datuk Suhaimi Hj Nasir, emphasized the critical role of leadership programs like the A-PLUS Camp in shaping youth resilience, self-confidence, and resistance to negative social influences.
His remarks came during the closing ceremony of the three-day 2025 National A-PLUS Leadership Training Camp, themed “Sustainable Aspirations, Excellence, and Survival,” held at Aisyadelia Cottage, Batu 14 Sandakan, on Monday.
The camp, attended by 100 students from seven secondary schools under the Libaran parliamentary constituency, focused on physical endurance, mental challenges, teamwork, and communication exercises. Suhaimi praised the initiative for equipping participants with the courage and tenacity to overcome adversity.
“True success is not measured by how high we climb, but by how we use that success to serve our faith, community, and nation. The path to extraordinary achievement is never easy. Challenges and discouragement will arise, but never lose heart—Allah’s wisdom guides every step of our journey,” he continued.
Do not fear failure. Even if your SPM results are not stellar, keep striving. What separates achievers from others is the courage to persist, Suhaimi added.
Suhaimi urged participants to surround themselves with supportive peers and embrace big dreams, stressing that “every great success begins with a bold vision.” He also highlighted the importance of resilience: “Life will test us, but rising after a fall and continuing forward is what truly matters.”
Suhaimi expressed confidence that attendees would leave the camp “stronger in spirit, more self-assured, and better prepared for the future.” He added: “Aim to become leaders who uplift others, not just yourselves.” – James Leong
