SANDAKAN: Demonstrating concern for the plight of single mothers, Tanjong Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung, accompanied by his secretary Liau Fui Fui, visited the home of a single mother residing at Jalan Singapura.
The woman lives with her 12-year-old daughter and has been struggling to provide school necessities due to unemployment and reliance on minimal welfare aid.
During the visit, Poon and Liau took the child to purchase essential school items, including uniforms, shoes, and stationery, to ensure she can attend school comfortably and confidently.
Poon emphasized that education is every child’s right, regardless of family background and pledged to monitor the family’s situation closely while providing necessary support in the future.
“The child’s smile motivates us to continue serving the community. Though this assistance is modest, we will keep track of the family’s needs and help however we can. We hope this child can pursue her education happily and achieve her dreams,” Liau who is also Jetama Sdn Bhd chairperson, said.
The initiative underscores both Poon and Liau’s commitment to addressing grassroots challenges and fostering educational opportunities for underprivileged families. – James Leong
