Health of security personnel determines national defence strength

SANDAKAN: The welfare and health of security personnel must be given serious attention as they are key to national defence strength, particularly in strategic areas like Sabah’s East Coast, which frequently faces security challenges.
Libaran MP Datuk Suhaimi Hj Nasir emphasized that security personnel operate in demanding environments and serve as the frontline in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
He made these remarks during an inspection visit to the 22nd Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) Medical Clinic at Sri Kinabatangan Camp, Sandakan, following an official invitation from the camp’s management.
“This visit allows me to observe firsthand the current needs, logistical challenges, and operational difficulties faced by medical staff and military personnel. We must ensure they receive adequate and quality healthcare facilities,” he said.
The UMNO Libaran Division Chief also pledged to advocate for any necessary improvements in facilities and welfare for security forces to relevant ministries and agencies, ensuring national defence readiness.
He added that the government must continue prioritizing the development of healthcare infrastructure and facilities in military camps, especially in rural areas like Sandakan and Lahad Datu, which serve as the nation’s primary security bulwarks.
Suhaimi also expressed his appreciation to all members of the 22nd RAMD for their dedication and sacrifices, stressing that public support for security forces is fundamental to national stability and prosperity.
Also present during the visit were Commanding Officer of the 22nd RAMD Battalion, Lt. Col. Mohd Idris Odding; Medical Officer of the 22nd RAMD Clinic, Captain Dr. Sarveen Vasu and other senior officers. – James Leong
