Two persons injured in separate accidents in the east coast

LAHAD DATU: Emergency crews successfully contained a hazardous fuel spill after a Petronas tanker carrying 10,000 litres of petrol overturned along Jalan Sabahan 35 KM from here on Thursday.
Firemen from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue station responded to a distress call at 9.03 am and on arrival at the site, swiftly established a 100-foot safety zone around the compromised vehicle.
Operations Commander PBK I Mohd Akbar said, “Firemen implemented immediate foam suppression to prevent potential ignition while heavy equipment operators worked to contain the spreading fuel.”
The 39-year-old tanker driver, the sole casualty, received prompt medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries before being transported to the hospital for further medical attention.
In a separate incident, the Sandakan Civil Defence Force (APM) rescued six victims from a road accident in front of the JPJ office at Mile 7 on Wednesday.
The 1.40 pm collision between a Perodua Viva and an SUV left the female driver with minor eye injuries, while five children in the car were treated for shock.
“The victims were taken to Duchess of Kent Hospital and are in stable condition,” a Sandakan APM spokesman said. – James Leong
