SEMPORNA: The Semporna Fire and Rescue station handled two separate house fires occurring over two consecutive days in the district.
At 3.18pm on Sunday, the station received an emergency call regarding a fire at Jalan Tarapuli-Kubang Pinang. Four wooden structures and a used goods storage shed were completely destroyed.
The eight-member firefighting team arrived within 19 minutes and brought the fire under control by 3.40 pm and concluded at 5.26 pm.
The second fire broke out in Kampung Air at 8.16 am, involving two wooden houses at Kampung Air which were 100% destroyed on Monday.
Firefighting efforts were assisted by personnel from the Semporna Floating Fire and Rescue station and other agencies including police, RELA, and the Civil Defence Force.
A total of 13 firemen were involved in the firefighting operation and they succeeded in containing the blaze by 8.38 am and the operation ended at 9.23am.
No casualties were reported in either incident, and the causes of the fires are under investigation. – James Leong
