KOTA KINABALU: TalentCorp has chosen Kota Kinabalu as the first stop for its nationwide AI MyMahir tour, signalling Sabah’s capability to stand alongside other states in technology and innovation.
Private Secretary and Chief Liaison Officer to the Kota Kinabalu MP, Kaven Lee, said Sabahans deserve equal access to opportunities and knowledge as those in Peninsular Malaysia.
“This is proof that the government, through TalentCorp, has not forgotten us,” he said at the launch held at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
Lee said the programme places Sabah in the national spotlight.
“The eyes of the country are on us – on how we embrace this knowledge, use it to uplift our communities, and lead by example,” he added.
He stressed that technology is advancing rapidly and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now part of daily life.
“In the past, preparing a report might take days. Today, with AI, it can be done in minutes. Finding information once meant going through thick books. Now AI can summarise thousands of pieces of data in seconds,” he said.
In business, AI enables entrepreneurs to make data-driven decisions, predict market trends, understand customer needs and design effective marketing strategies, he said.
For NGOs, it speeds up work such as annual reports, aid records and project analyses, allowing more time to serve communities, he added.
Lee also thanked the programme’s partners Microsoft, for providing technical support, and EY, for introducing the Next-Gen Workforce AI programme to guide young people in education and employment.
