MPS Councillor inspects completed water pipe repair at Prima Square junction

SANDAKAN: Liberal Democratic Party vice president and Sandakan Municipal (MPS) Councillor Robert Chong Thien Ming visited the Prima Square road junction to inspect the site following the completion of the water pipe repair.
Chong, who had been monitoring the new pipe installation since last week, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth progress.
“Within a week, the team successfully connected the new pipe, which replaced the one that was leaking underground. The leakage has been completely stopped, with no more signs of water overflow at the junction.”
He commended the Sabah Water Department Sandakan office for its proactive decision to replace the damaged pipe entirely, rather than opting for the underground repair.
Chong noted that a repair on the existing underground pipe would have taken much longer time, potentially taking a month due to multiple utility cables crossing the area.
While pleased with the resolution, Chong urged JANS to continue monitoring the surrounding piping network to identify potential leaks proactively. He emphasized that such incidents cause significant public inconvenience and traffic disruptions, and should be prevented from recurring. – James Leong
