SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) responded swiftly to a road accident at the Jalan Nasalim traffic light intersection on Sunday evening.
The accident, which occurred at 8.35 pm, involved a private vehicle that reportedly veered off the road after the driver experienced a ‘microsleep’ on his way to work.
According to Sandakan APM officer Kapten (PA) Sulaiman Salama, an APM team of one officer and seven personnel was dispatched to the scene using a Light Rescue Vehicle and a Medical Rescue Vehicle, arriving by 8.38 pm.
The team provided immediate medical assistance to the victim and helped manage traffic flow.
The victim, a 21-year-old male security guard, reported pain in his head and chest. After initial examination showed elevated blood pressure, he was transported to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for further treatment.
The operation concluded at 9.12 pm, lasting approximately 37 minutes in total. – James Leong
