TENOM: Sabah’s Town of Coffee is drawing up plans to spur tourism growth under Visit Tenom (VT) 2026 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026.
A coordination meeting of the working committee for VT 2026 was held at the district office here.
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister and Melalap Assemblyman Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, who attended the meeting, said it aimed to chart the district’s tourism direction and to plan programme content for VT 2026.
Among the programmes planned are the Dragon Boat Festival, Tenom Sabah Coffee Festival, Upper Interior Cultural Festival, Kalimaran Festival, Tenom Hiking Programme 2026 and Tenom Campfest 2026.
He said a wide range of activities would be implemented to spur tourist arrivals while promoting existing tourism products and attractions in Tenom.
Jamawi also expressed his appreciation and congratulations to all committee members involved and conveyed his full support for all the planned programmes.
“May all efforts to promote Tenom as a key tourist destination in the future be made smooth and successful,” he said.
The meeting, chaired by Tenom District Officer Alexander Liew, was also attended by Tenom Member of Parliament Datuk Riduan Rubin, heads of departments, and representatives from several government and private agencies.
Separately, Jamawi also met members of the Tenom Chinese Chamber of Commerce, led by its chairman Datuk Yong Oi Kiong, at Tenom Coffee Villa Restaurant. – Wu Vuide
