TAWAU: A 61-year-old local man was one of two individuals arrested by the District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) here on Tuesday for drug-related offences.
In the first operation at a house in Kampung Apas Parit, police detained a 28-year-old foreigner and seized 0.08 grams of suspected methamphetamine (syabu).
The second arrest, conducted by the roadside in Kampung Icebox, resulted in the detention of the elderly local man. He was found in possession of 0.10 grams of a substance believed to be syabu.
OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin confirmed that both suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine. They are currently being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Separately, on Feb 24, police arrested a 36-year-old man with a history of drug convictions for allegedly stealing an air conditioner compressor in Taman Semarak. He is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft. – James Leong
