SANDAKAN: Following complaints from residents regarding snapped and low-hanging telephone cables at Taman Grandview, Lorong 3E, Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong conducted a site visit to assess the situation.
The damaged cables have not only disrupted telephone and internet services but also pose safety risks to road users, particularly children, the elderly, and motorcyclists. The issue has further inconvenienced daily activities, including online learning and emergency communications.
A report has been submitted to the relevant telecommunications company for immediate repair. Chong urged the company to carry out the necessary repairs without delay and assured that he would continue monitoring the matter until it is fully resolved.
He emphasised that utility infrastructure maintenance must be carried out proactively, rather than merely in response to public complaints. Contractors and relevant parties are reminded to always adhere to established safety standards. Close cooperation among all stakeholders is essential to ensure public safety and well-being.
