KOTA KINABALU: The media plays a vital role as a bridge between the government and the people in disseminating information.
“We appreciate the role of the media in clearly explaining government policies while at the same time conveying the people’s voices to the authorities for action,” said Datuk Lucy Irene Yong.
The director of Media and Communications in the Chief Minister’s Department said this during Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s Hari Raya gathering with members of the media at a hotel.
She said although the media’s role today demands speed, it should not come at the expense of accuracy.
“In an era of information overload, effective communication lies in disseminating verified news, thus serving as the main reference for the public in forming an accurate understanding,” she said.
In this regard, she added that the Media and Communications Office will continue to ensure that all reports and news related to the State Government and the Chief Minister are shared promptly and accurately with the media for dissemination through their respective platforms.
Also in attendance were Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih, Yayasan Sabah Director Datuk Gulamhaidar Khan Bahadar, and heads of departments. – Wu Vuide
