TAWAU: A teenage girl claimed she was raped by a man after being taken from a nightclub to a hotel in the Kubota Central area.
The victim, who was in a drunk and weakened state, was allegedly taken by the suspect in a four-wheel-drive vehicle to a hotel. At the location, the victim realised she had been raped by the man and subsequently filed a police report.
Acting on the report, a police team from the District Criminal Investigation Division managed to track down and arrest the suspect within less than 24 hours. The arrest was made in Kampung Pukat on April 19.
OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin, confirmed that the suspect is a 28-year-old local male. A background check revealed no prior criminal record.
The suspect was brought to the police station for further investigation. The case is being probed under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. – James Leong
